My son runs to me and raises both his arms, "Kilikili POWER!", he shouts, and I hug him, and smell his kilikili which has a powdery-baby-sweaty-still-oh-so-lovely scent. "This one too!", pointing to his other underarm. I take a whiff, and yes, I suddenly feel energized! "Ay, thank you anak! I feel so much better!" And I give him a big, tight hug.
My Luis is turning 4 soon, and he's turning into your usual super energetic, non-stop action, non-stop talking, little boy monster who makes a MONSTROUS MESS at home. Yikes, did I just raise a monster? ... But like all little boys, I think they also have the power to melt hearts when they turn super sweet. The other night he said "I'm proud of you, mom!", and gave me a kiss. While I don't really know where that came from, it just has the power to make me feel so loved. and happy. and energized. and fulfilled. and satisfied. and feel so good like I really did a good job.
Sure beats any superpower any time.
The photo below is for Dr. Liza, and her son Nathan, who we are happy to see growing up to be his mom's own little super hero. It is so touching to be a witness to his growth as we've been covering their milestones from the pregnancy, baptism, upcoming 1st birthday and everything in between =) Will also share photos from their 6 sessions one of these days...
